Live coverage of Liverpool’s Champions League match against Porto with team news, television and streaming options, and an updated liveblog throughout the match.

| Wednesday, November 24th |
Premier League | Anfield

Liverpool have outscored Porto 16-2 over the last 5 outings, racking up 4 wins and a draw in the process. In fact, taking the 2-time Champions League winners behind the woodshed for a good old fashioned whoopin’ has become a bit of a European tradition under Kloppo.

However, Liverpool have had something to play for in all those cases, with the sole possible exception of the 0-0 draw after thoroughly defenestrating Porto in the away leg 5-0. Liverpool have nothing but pride to play for tonight, but Porto can conceivably punch their ticket for the knockout rounds if results fall the right way. So, tonight could be a fight.

Jurgen Klopp will likely rotate a bit, but almost certainly not as much as many would like. Best case scenario: Liverpool win. Second best scenario: Atletico Madrid get knocked out of the Champions League.

Rumour Mongering: Chelsea Braced for Liverpool Pulisic Bid

Barcelona are also said to be interested in the American star and Chelsea squad player.

Between manager Jürgen Klopp’s connections to Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool’s American owners, the Reds were heavily linked with forward Christian Pulisic before the United States international joined Chelsea in 2019.

Two years later, and the 23-year-old Pulisic has proven himself a solid player for for the London Blues—but not a lock to start week in and week out. That has led to a smattering of rumours that the player’s future might lie elsewhere.

Given those who trade in transfer rumours love nothing more than to rehash old stories and revive past links, it’s perhaps not a surprise to find the Reds once again linked with a player they were said to be in the running for two years ago.

The Christian Pulisic to Liverpool revival appears to have got its start with El Nacional, a Catalonian outlet who this week cast the Reds as Barcelona’s main rivals for the player’s signature when the transfer window opens in January.

There have since been stories from English outlets such as The Mirror painting a parallel picture, with Chelsea said to be braced for a bid. However, it’s not explained why Chelsea, in the midst of a title race, would need to sell now.

Pulisic has played just 280 minutes so far this season but spent two months hampered by an ankle injury, and while the player’s long-term future may lie away from Stamford Bridge a summer move would seem more plausible.

Doctor Gianpaolo Tartaro said Victor Osimhen’s surgery procedure lasted close to five hours and maintained that there is also a risk for a second surgery.

Gianpaolo Tartaro who operated the Napoli striker on Tuesday spoke to Napoli based station, Radio Kiss Kiss, said the process was difficult and revealed that the player suffered crushes on his cheekbone and not fractured as widely reported by the media

“It was a long intervention lasting for four and half hours. Surgery was the beginning of the whole post-phase, Osimhen had a crush and didn’t have a fractured like Paleari of Benevento had. It was an extremely difficult operation, even the tissues, muscles, nerves, arteries, and everything in between above the skull .”

“From the image from the TV, we could see, he couldn’t open his eyes, because eyeball pushed out and cheekbone going in, narrowing the orbital cavity. We Synthesized with five-place held by 16 screws.” He said.

On the possible recovery date, The Professor said everything depends on Osimhen and his body.

“Recovery time?, much depends on him and his body, I don’t have a crystal ball and I can’t know when he will recover. 90 days prognosis is uncertain because if there is any problem, he must return to the operating room.” He added.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury following a clash of head with Inter Milan’s defender Milan Skrinia on Sunday. Read more …

The starlet scooped up the Rising Star of The Year honour at this year’s North West Football Awards.

Harvey Elliott won an award! The young midfielder won the Rising Star of The Year honour at this year’s North West Football Awards and proudly posted about it on his socials. Here is the lad, beaming for the camera.

It’s been a while since we saw Harvey play. But thankfully, it seems like the folks at the North West Football Awards haven’t forgotten! His exploits on loan at Blackburn earned him the award, pipping his Liverpool FC teammates Curtis Jones and Sepp van den Berg. He shared a quick thank you to Blackburn Rovers, expressing his gratitude:

“This is just a quick message to say thank you for naming me the Athletic Rising Star of the Season. Thank you so much for all the votes, me and my family all appreciate it.”

“I also want to say a big thank you to Blackburn, the players, the staff and all the fans for making me feel so welcome and allowing me to do what I do best.”

“I just want to say a massive thanks to them. I’ll see you all soon.”

Well deserved, and with Harv sighted jogging last week, perhaps a return to full training with the first team isn’t as far off as we think it is. With the quality and maturity of his performances before his season was sadly disrupted, Elliott’s return sure is a tantalising thought. Here’s hoping for a smooth finish to Harvey’s rehabilitation!

Thiago Rubbishes Barcelona Return Rumours

Reports had claimed that Xavi was looking to bring his former teammate home to the Nou Camp/

Reports in Spain had claimed that newly installed manager Xavi Hernandez had identified his former teammate Thiago Alcantara as a potential lynchpin in his team as manager at the Camp Nou. With Barcelona’s well-documented financial woes, with what what money, I don’t exactly know.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool FC’s Champions League group encounter with Porto, Thiago was quick to shut down the rumours:

“As I always have been, I am a guy who plays football.”

“I am not concerned about the rumours. I’m focused on the duty I have with my team and the years I have in contract with my team.”

“I just want to know about this new adventure that I have here in the Premier League and to try to win all the trophies I can.

“My commitment is with this team.”

That question prompted a reflection of sorts on his decision to join the club last summer. So far, Thiago has been sidelined several times with niggling injuries during his stint at his Anfield. Despite the setbacks, the man has zero regrets about joining Liverpool from Bayern Munich.

“One hundred per cent I made the right choice, the right move.”

“I wanted to win and go away from my comfort area and try new things and a great, different football with the teammates I have here and Jurgen’s football.”

“Football’s about learning. With my experience and knowledge in football, I can be better by learning new things, so why not? In the end, I want to win.”

“That’s the biggest thing I have in my mind. I want to be dominant in a game. Why not here with Jurgen and these teammates?”

And that he has been. With both Thiago and Fabinho in the midfield, Liverpool has looked dominant for stretches, dating back to the run of form they made at the end of last season to qualify for the Champions League. More of that, please.

Liverpool Have No Plans to Move Divock Origi In January

The Reds are unlikely to risk thinning their squad this winter.

As November nears its end, eyes are looking towards the upcoming January transfer window. While it is expected that rumours will fly about Liverpool players leaving, the reality is that the club is unlikely to get rid of even any margin first team members. With a concerning injury tally mounting and his two best players spending a month playing on a different continent, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to give up any extra support, especially in the attack.

This goes for Everton-and-Barcelona match hero Divock Origi, who according to The Mirror, had garnered interest in a loan move from Newcastle.

Despite picking up very little playing time so far, Origi will find more opportunities in the new year as the games start to pile up for the Reds.

One place Origi has shined this season is in the League Cup, where he’s started alongside Takumi Minamino up front. He’s scored two goals in the two victories that got them into the quarterfinals.

Liverpool did very little transfer business over the summer, so it’s possible that we’ll see the club bring in some new players to help fill in any holes in the squad. It’s less likely that the club will let go any experienced first team members this winter.
